About The Author

Hello, Bookworm! I'm Kate Sully.
I write YA and New Adult fiction with chronic and mental illness representation for readers who crave hopeful — if bittersweet — friends to lovers, found family, and discovering identity stories, or who maybe just need to know that they're not alone and they've got this.

I’ve always loved reading and writing my own fictional stories, and living with cPTSD, chronic CVS, PCOS and endometriosis, and chronic pain, books have always been my escape, safe space, adventures, and therapy.

I originally went to Columbia College Chicago as a dance major, but long story short, transferred and ended up with a Bachelor’s of English Lit from Lake Erie College here at home in Ohio, and my MFA in creative writing with concentrations in YA fiction and professional writing and editing online through SNHU. I wouldn’t change a single part of my long, messy journey!!
I have written several short stories, poems, and novels, though none are published... yet! I am currently seeking representation for traditional publishing of my novels, and always plotting or drafting the next.
I'm also the host of Fairport Harbor, OH's Scribblers Writers Group, a community of local creative individuals who share a love for writing and storytelling of all kinds, genres, and subjects. I love my Scribblers and how much we inspire and teach one another.
As a blogger, I share all things bookish and writer-related. Be it book recs or reviews, tips on writing or prompts and stories from Scribblers, or updates on my own writing and publishing journey, you'll find it here.

When I'm not reading or writing, I own Kate Sully Photography, capturing photo and video of wedding days with my best friend-turned-husband, Christian. We also run Mystery Date Podcast together, a mix of date night and mysterious, unsolved stories.

Some other get-to-know-ya things:
I’ve danced, studied and taught yoga, have been in a dozen plays and musicals, played several instruments, modeled, and painted— I’ve always been obsessed with the arts, and that shines through in my characters and stories.
I also love dogs, anything written by Emily Henry, traveling, chai lattes, Twenty One Pilots, New Years, sweet treats, roller coasters, sleeping, and sunflowers.
